Troubleshoot Gas fireplaces/logs

Did you try turning it on and off again? 😀

-Is there gas to the house?

-Are there any other appliances in the house that are running off gas?

-Is there power to the unit?

-The answer to these questions can quickly let you know the issue if both answers are no.

-Check the valves on meter/tank to make sure they are open

-Check valve on unit to make sure it is open

-Sometimes there are other valves on gas line in attic

-If the unit has not been lit in a long time there will be air in the line so it will take a while to purge the line of all the air.

-For gas logs purge the line by holding down the control knob for several minutes until you smell gas. If it is a gas fireplace then it should purge itself by repeatedly trying to start it.

-If you are getting gas to the unit but it still wont light then it could be a dirty pilot light or thermocouple. If they are clean and it still doesn't start they could be bad.
