CHIMNEY CAP REPLACEMENT

Chimney cap replacement helps protect your system from rain, debris, and animals entering the flue. A properly fitted cap also helps reduce moisture damage and supports proper airflow and system protection.

LONG TERM CHIMNEY PROTECTION

Chimney caps are available in several styles and materials depending on the type of fireplace and chimney system. From standard stainless steel caps to custom multi-flue and decorative options, the right cap helps improve long-term protection, durability, and overall chimney performance. Properly installed caps can also help prevent downdrafts and reduce unwanted moisture buildup inside the system.

Small Cap

13”x13” of 13”x18”

These are the most common for masonry fireplaces, and they sit directly on the flue tile; mounted by friction screws, or anchored into the crown itself.

Full Cap for Wood Chase (Pre fab or metal units)

This chimney is constructed of wood, and has a rock veneer on the outside. Therefore, the top of the chimney didn’t have cement, it was open. So this full cap, comes with a half cap chase cover on the bottom to weather proof the top of the chase.

Termination Caps

Whatever Unit or Fireplace you have installed, you want to make sure you have the proper termination. This round cap above is necessary, because it separates the exhaust of the smoke and heat, from the cooling pipe. The cooling pipe has the purpose of keeping cool air, so that the clearances to combustibles may be shortened. (See the extra level of holes underneath the cap?)

Medium Cap

18”x18” or 20”x20” or special order sized

More commonly used for brick flue’s, rather than tile.

Since the brick flues don’t come above the crown line, we try to use a wider larger roof of cap, so that water doesn’t blow and slide into the chimney. Normally at this point, we recommend a full masonry cap, to protect the crown as well as the chimney.

Half Cap - (Chase Cover)

These Metal tops, cover the opening of the chimney, and have the 4 sloped sides so that water runs off the top, and does not pool up leading to rust. The cover themselves have a collar, and there’s an additional sloped storm collar that goes over that, and is siliconed.

Full Cap for Masonry Chimney

This full cap not only prevents water from getting in your chimney, it protects the crown on top as well.

Many customers prefer this style cap for how good it looks, as well.

Anti-Down Draft Caps

We provide Anti-Down Draft Caps, for high wind areas and towns. It just depends on each customers specific situation. This cap hear prevents winds from blowing the smoke down and back into your home.
